Student Loan Guide

Once you choose your school, this guide can lead you through the process of finding the money you need for your education.

Navigating the financial aid process can be confusing. In addition to grants, scholarships and work-study programs, many students will still need to take out government loans, private loans, or a combination of both. Determining which loans are best for your situation can also be challenging. This guide will help lead you through the process of securing the funds you need.

Before you apply for loans, you should have:

  • completed and sent in your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible after January 1st
  • received an award letter from the school you plan to attend

Stafford Loans are an extremely popular and cost-effective source of education funds. Eligibility is based on cost of attendance and Expected Family Contribution.
